2023 FACO Summer Conference

The 2023 FACO Summer Conference was held virtually by live webinar on July 26, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET. FACO voting Members and their Staff enjoyed unlimited FREE registrations, and are eligible to receive a copy of the presentation materials and a FREE video recording of the Conference (once available) for use within their Offices. Information on how to access the presentation materials (and the video recording, once available) through the buttons below will be sent directly by email to FACO voting Members.

Those who are not FACO voting Members were able to attend live for $100 per registrant, and such registrants are eligible to receive the presentation materials. Information on how to access the presentation materials will be sent directly by email.

Agenda

This year’s topics were specially crafted with your Constitutional Office in mind, provided by presenters experienced in advising Constitutional Officers, local governments, and other public entities. This year’s Conference featured:


  • A dynamic conversation to assist Constitutional Officers and their Staff to Identify and Fight Fraud featuring Carolyn Timmann (Martin County Clerk/Comptroller), Marty Kiar (Broward County Property Appraiser), and Ramy Fares (Assistant Attorney General), with a special introduction by Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody;
  • Emerging trends in Data Security and Privacy, including Prevention for Government Offices with Florida Digital Service and What to Do if a Breach Occurs with Doug Kilby, Esq. (Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US));
  • An Ethics Training by Florida Commission on Ethics Assistant General Counsel Grayden Schafer specifically designed for Constitutional Officers and their Staff to ensure conflict of interest disclosures, Florida’s new Code of Ethics for Public Officers and Employees, and other constitutional and statutory requirements are met;
  • HR Training for Public Officials and Regulated Employees by Janet McEnery and Andrew McLaughlin, Esqs.
